Professional Organizer, Lori Firsdon, will present a seminar entitled, “Think Inside the Box, Organizing Your Home”, at the Library on Saturday, January 24 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. Learn how to organize your home for efficiency, keep your kitchen functional, perfect time saving routines, and more.

Firsdon is the owner of Forte Organizers, and is a regular Dayton Daily News columnist. She has been featured on national television shows focused on organizing, including A&E Television’s popular show, Hoarders. Besides being an entrepreneur, she is the mother of five children, which gives her valuable insight on what organizational challenges most people face in trying to balance home and work life.

Far Hills Speaker Series: The Great Flood of 1913

The Oakwood Historical SocietyThe Oakwood Historical Society in partnership with the Library is pleased to present this edition of the Far Hills Speaker Series- The Great Flood of 1913 by Mark Risley. This detailed presentation explores Dayton before the flood, the causes of the flood, the rescue/recovery efforts and the long-term results of the area's response.

Presented by Mark Risley, past President of the Oakwood Historical Society. Risley has been on the board of The Oakwood Historical Society since 2006.. He is past co-chair of the former Oakwood Preservation Trust and has also served on the steering committee for events commemorating the centennial of Dayton’s Great Flood of 1913. He is a retired airline flight operations coordinator, a history advocate and is involved in local independent film production.
