Who doesn’t enjoy a homegrown tomato in the summer? As a home gardener there are few things more satisfying than harvesting and consuming the fruits of your labor. Whether you are an experienced home gardener or just starting out you won’t want to miss “Planning Your Vegetable Garden” Sunday, May 5 from 2-4 p.m. Lisa Helm, Master Organic Gardener, will cover topics including bed preparation, plant selection, crop rotation, companion planting, intensive vs. rows, organic vs. conventional, watering and maintenance.
Ms. Helm was certified as a Master Organic Gardener in 2003 and designed and built the demonstration vegetable garden that year at Possum Creek MetroPark. In 2008 she founded Garden Station art park and community garden, which reflects her interest in permaculture, green construction and outsider art. Since then Lisa has helped form a Dayton Urban Farmer’s group, organized local Parking Day events, a Sustainable Living Workshop series and was a speaker for the 2012 Miami Valley Gardening Conference.
